Inside-mold

The Fusion-Guitar is an experimental Projekt to create a new and unconventional instrument. The ideas for the features that make this instrument so unconventional stem from Florian`s „list of crazy ideas“, which he started during his studies and continues to expand. Some ideas came during lectures in acoustic science, but most came from dreams (seriously!). Florian brings together present day technical schools and elegant new design.

Florian`s concept for this instrument type includes the following goals:

„Currently my concept for the Fusion Guitar includes the significant decrease of weight (for better play and better sound), the treatment of wood (artificial aging with heat and chemicals, implementing Chladni patterns; for better sound), and the development of ergonomic devices (to facilitate healthy performance posture).

Regarding musical compositions, the traditional guitar is unfortunately incompatible with the tuning of some of the music composed for fretless instruments, folklore instruments (especially from non-western-European cultures) and other tuning systems. I would like to equip the Fusion Guitar with replacable and/or  movable frets, eliminating this problem and allowing a guitarist with classical training to play repertoire way beyond the restrictions of cultural borders and of the western music of the 19^th , 20^th and the 21^st century.“

The first intent

The first Fusion Guitars get a frame made out of black fiber material and it´s  designed as a sandwich costruction. The cover should be made out of silk. For the top Florian will make several sandwich tops out of spruce, cedar, sinker redwood and an end-grain balsa core. The top may be detachable by using a screw-on-rib system. The neck will be made with ebony veneered spruce/carbon block. The goal is to build this guitar weighing less than 1,00 kg.

The Matrix

The back has a very complex shape. The Inside-molde gives an imagination of the body. The Matrix defines the different faces of the backside.
